Approximately 120 years ago, tragic shipwrecks and
drowned sailors in the sea at Hvide Sande and Horn’s
Reef outside Blåvandshuk compelled local citizens
to build the lighthouses at Lyngvig and Blåvandshuk.
Both lighthouses probably saved lots of lives in the
years following, with their characteristic cones of
light which, three times a minute, throw long lifesaving tentacles over the North Sea.

Today both towers continue to be important landmarks, also for the many guests that traverse their
roughly 200 steps in order to enjoy the formidable
view.
