100 km of coastline from Skallingen in the south to
Vedersø Klit in the north offers the most beautiful and
wild landscapes. Just a stone's throw from Denmark's
westernmost point is Langli, which is not only the
Wadden Sea's only island, but also one of Denmark's
newest islands and categorized as a UNESCO World
Heritage Site. Two months a year there is an ebb road
with access to Langli, which is created by sand deposits and is only on loan – every year the sea eats of the
island, which has halved in the last 100 years.
And another stone's throw from Lyngvig Lighthouse
is Ringkøbing Fjord with approx. 300 km2 - Denmark's
largest lock fjord where the water level and water
exchange with the sea are regulated via a lock. It is
between 2 and 5 m deep and drains about 9% of Denmark's area through Skjern å (it is about an area the
size of Funen).
