About a hundred years ago, there was not a
single house at Henne Strand – there was only
a wheel track that led on from Henneby to the
beach – it was the rescue route and was used
by the beach-bailiff and when you had to keep
watch by the sea in stormy weather. And then
maybe by people from the farms when they went
to the beach on a sunny summer Sunday with a
horse-drawn carriage.
The first stone building was built around 1917 - it was
a country house especially used for hunting events.
After that, guest houses, hotels, holiday homes and
shops were built. But the first house still exists and
hides a bit of the history of the town.
At the same time as holiday homes, Guest houses
and hotels grew and everyone got more holiday by
law, then a form of "cheap" holiday also arose where
you hiked, cycled while you had brought a tent,
cooking-utensils and therefore a need for cheap accommodation also arose. Therefore, in the early 30s,
a hostel was built in the middle of the town with
bedrooms, a shared kitchen and a living room. “Solfang” is still located in the middle of the town and
there are still events with community singing and
music, as in the early years, when it was a gathering
place for young and old for singing and playing.
