At the entrance to Oksbøl from the west, three
iron oxen welcome visitors to the town – a
reminder that in the 15th and 16th centuries,
cattle were driven through the town on their
way to be shipped out from the fishing village of Sønderside – a town on the edge of Ho
plantation, which disappeared in a major storm
surge in 1634.
The town also has one of the municipality's
largest sports centers and even Ål Church with
beautiful Romanesque frescoes, which are
among the best in Denmark.
