Grøn Mosaikguldsmed / Grüne Mosaiklibelle / Green Mosaic Dragon昀氀y
A locally based art association, Skulptur
Ølgod, has impressively got a number of
interesting works of art to the town, which
are immediately noticeable when you take a
walk around the town. Beautiful works have
been acquired through the Danish Sculptors'
Association, making Ølgod the sculpture
epicenter of West Jutland. Every other year,
an exhibition is held in Ølgod, where artists
from all over the country come to exhibit their
works. It is through this that Ølgod now has
40 sculptures that adorn the townscape.
Guldsmedesøen (Dragonfly Lake) got its
name in 2018 when a rare dragonfly, a green
mosaic dragonfly, was found in the lake,
which now gives the lake its name. The municipality was in the process of cleaning up
the lake when the rare dragonfly was found.
This meant that the plants in half of the lake
were left standing, and the clean-up process
stopped. The green mosaic dragonfly is dependent on the plant crab claw, which is part
of the lake's vegetation. Park your car at the
Square in Ølgod and walk about 1 km through
the town along Søndergade down to Guldsmedesøen, which is located on Torvegade.
