Hjedding Mejerimuseum
Here, in the middle of the sandy heathland, Denmark's first cooperative dairy was established in
1882, and here the simple method of producing
milk was founded. This can still be seen at the
small museum in Hjedding about 2 km south of
town, you can see the original dairy machines in
operation, partly powered by water.
The establishment of HTH kitchens in 1966 meant
renewed development. And especially during the
crisis years of 1972-1980, Ølgod was one of the municipalities that gained more industrial jobs. There
is still some industry in the town, but at the same
time there is ambitious cultural momentum and a
thriving commercial life.
