TARM
The name means: long and narrow land area,
and the town has existed since the 15th century,
leaning against the large, winding Skjern River. It
is the fourth largest town in Ringkøbing-Skjern
Municipality and has always been an active trading town – ever since the days when cattle were
traded and driven through the country.
The town grew after the Jutland railway was established across the country – with a hotel and several
businesses, as well as a grammar school that was a
boarding school.
Every Wednesday during the summer months, a
large market is held where around 300 stallholders
and other good folk gather, ready to do a good day's
trading. Around 6,000 visitors attend each time.
