Skjern
Another market town – in fact Denmark's
youngest market town from 1958 – these
were towns with special privileges, obtained through royal intervention, which
involved certain special rights for crafts/
trade, their own administration and courts,
exemption from certain taxes and military
service. All these privileges were abolished
by the municipal reform in 1970.
Skjern Å - Denmark's most water-rich river,
is probably what most people know about
Skjern – with the country's only river delta and
the world-famous Skjern Å salmon, which is
currently facing many challenges, - the Center
for Wild Salmon knows and are working hard
to save the conditions for this particular salmon strain.
Kong Hans Bro var ifølge historien det vadested
over Skjern Å, hvor Kong Hans’ hest styrtede og
kongen faldt i vandet.
Die Kong Hans Brücke war lt. Ûberlieferung eine
Furt durch den Fluss Skjern Å, wo das Pferd von
Kong Hans stürzste und der Koenig ins Wasser viel.
Kong Hans Bridge was according to history the ford
over Skjern Å, where King Hans' horse stumbled
and the king fell into the water.
