Ringkøbing Church from the 1400s – the
tower from 1550, which is a landmark and
rather specially constructed, as it is wider at
the top than at the bottom. The town square
is also home to the town's oldest building
from around 1600 – Hotel Ringkøbing – an
inn since 1833 and before that one of many
merchant's houses in the town.
The town is separated from Holmsland Klit
by Vonå, which connects Ringkøbing Fjord
with Stadil Fjord – several streams, Hover &
Heager, flow from the east into Vonå, draining approx. 475 km2 and supplying Ringkøbing Fjord with 15% of its water. There once
was a ferry service to Holmsland Klit across
Vonå until 1860, and in 2007 the new bypass
highway was made and the bridge over the
stream has been enlarged several times.
